Poker Lessons - Learn To Play Poker Free

Poker lessons are a necessary and required skill to learn to play poker free. Like any activity, whether it is sports, music or a professional career, all require some sort of guided lessons to become successful. The best poker lessons are learned through experience and self-education. However, one could spend hundreds of hours in that respect. Therefore, an alternative to learn to play poker free is through shortcut methods. The best shortcut method is learning tricks of the trade from professionals and applying that to your poker game experience.?

For example, if I teach you to raise in the hijack position with small suited connectors, you will never experience how well that works until you actually try it. For that reason, I encourage my poker students to learn to play poker free by playing in online poker freerolls. Then applying the strategies that I instruct for an experience of how those lessons work in a real life situation. After picking up a few lessons, you should find opportunities to use them in each poker tournament or cash game you play. Expanding your knowledge through each lesson will also expand your earnings.

Another example of a poker lesson; while most Texas Holdem players are familiar with bluffing, the majority have limited knowledge on how to execute a proper bluff to win a pot. Learning poker lessons on how to bluff will not only improve your game, it will increase your bankroll. Furthermore, if accomplished according to professional poker lessons you receive, you rarely get caught bluffing.

The first step to learn how to play poker free is by reading well thought out poker lessons from professionals. Avoid the hype and misinformation found all over the internet. Although every poker player has an opinion on how to do this or that, the bottom line is learning from a professional source are your best bet. Additionally, you should shy away from poker lessons that cost money until you have reached the point in your game that you can no longer learn from all the free sources.

Plenty of top professionals do NOT make a habit of revealing some of the most effective poker strategy to the public. (After all, why would they?) Therefore, you must learn how to play poker free by experiencing those lessons and then consider paying a professional to teach you one on one in the future. You can start today on your venture to learn how to play poker free, by joining a blog that has plenty of lessons and articles available at no cost.

5 Basic Live Poker Tournament Tips

There are many different ways poker players choose to play the game, however, there are certain basics you should attempt to adhere to. Now these may seem very simple and straight forward but it is amazing how many poker players out there simply dismiss them.

There are two ways to look at these poker tips, and because you want to become a better poker player this post is worth reading, first, you were unaware of these poker tips and you can use them to your advantage or second you are aware of them and you can watch for other poker players not adhering to them.

Simply put, the poker players not following these tips are obviously novices and will probably lose all there chips to the more experienced poker player.

Poker Tip 1. Wait to look at your cards

Our golden rule is to watch what other poker players are doing. How can you do this if you are looking at your cards? Wait until it is your turn to act then look at your cards, you should be concentrating on the players due to act before you, not on your own cards. The only time you should look straight away is under the gun (first to act sitting next to the big blind), but still, you can look for players after you that have already checked their cards.

Poker Tip 2. Do not lift your cards from the table

We've all seen it on TV, cover your cards with one hand and only raise enough of the cards to know their value and suit. Do not lift the cards off the table to get a better look. This opens the door to showing your opponents both your cards and your tells.

Poker Tip 3. Act in turn.

I don't really know why I have this tip here, because if you follow poker tip 1, you shouldn't be able to act out of turn as you haven't seen your cards yet. However, to become a better poker player you must realise you can watch for players meaning to act after you and get a read on their possible actions. Just because you will choose to act in turn doesn't mean your opponents will. Keep an eye out for that opponents holding their cards ready to muck out of turn.

Poker Tip 4. Only look at your cards once

Only look at your cards once and make every effort to show no emotion. You only have two cards to remember, if you can't remember the value and suit of two cards you looked at 30 seconds ago you have a lot of homework to do to become a better poker player. Besides, you should be spending as much time as possible watching your opponents rather than watching your own cards. Furthermore, see if you can work out a consistent amount of time to look at them. Eg. Try for 3 seconds every hand. A poker tell can be picked up by the amount of time a player looks at their cards. Consistency is the key, regardless how strong or weak your hand is.

Poker Tip 5. Showing your cards

There is an art for showing your cards. Professional poker players show their cards at certain times for definite reasons, they have a plan in mind and are attempting to set a trap. Don't get sucked into showing your hand unless you have set out to purposely do so. You will find many poker players suggest you never show your hand - keep your opponent guessing. This is good advice if you have not set a plan. Wanting your opponents to believe you bluff a lot, or only play with very strong hands or even attempting to put a player on tilt are a few good reasons to show your hands. Stroking your ego is definitely no reason to show your hand.

We can post hundreds of poker strategies and tips here on how to become a better poker player and they are all valuable. You can find them all over the internet and even from your opponents. BUT, these tips and poker strategies are useless unless you implement them into your poker game. You should want them to become second nature, embed them into your subconscious.

It is a matter of being aware of your surroundings and most importantly aware of yourself. You are destined to become better poker player if you start to focus on you, your mindset and how you approach the game.

To help poker players adapt, learn and implement these skills, we have published an e-book, Poker - The Power of Body Language. We have designed this book to be an easy read, which will subliminally embed the ability to learn and read the necessary skills. The next step to you becoming a better poker player.

Remember, poker is not just about the cards, the power is in your hands. It is time to deal your own destiny.

Good luck, Remember, Poker Power - The Power is in Your Hands!

Good Luck at the tables,

How Cheating Online Poker Players Are Caught

Recently, cheating online poker has become the alternative way to pad your poker bankroll. In this technologically advanced world, poker players continually resort to devious extremes hoping to win real money in poker. Traditional poker strategy such as studying the game, probabilities and odds has taken a back seat as modern Texas Holdem players download software to help them despite the integrity and honesty required in the game.

The 'one player to a hand rule' is tossed out the window as cheating online poker is the new way to win cash for your bankroll. Forget integrity, honesty and hard work! New players are resorting to the easy way of cheating.

The choice of cheating online poker players out of their money comes in the form of Poker HUDs (trackers and Heads Up Displays) and Enhanced Player Assistance (EPAs) devices known as calculators and poker bots.

Instead of moralizing whether cheating is right or wrong, this article is focused only on how one can defend against cheating players who use such software. There materially exists a substitute to cheating online poker players using prohibited and illicit software. That choice is offered by the pokersites through their use of counter-software.

Special poker algorithms are the answer pokersites have devised to catch cheating online poker players and stop them from winning. The algorithms are designed to detect and penalize players using HUDs and EPAs.

Detecting illicit software on your computer is the primary job of the poker algorithms. While it may seem appropriate to use pokertracker poker-bots or calculators, their use is deemed illegal in the terms of use and therefore prohibited.

Secondary to that, once the detection is made, the poker algorithm will alter the outcome of poker hands in an effort to stop you from winning. This is tantamount to catching and punishing cheating players.

The site will not warn the cheating online poker player. Instead it will intentionally deal a bad beat to the offender. The algorithm will deal out a cooler poker hand to the cheating online poker player and essentially ensure he loses against a stronger hand. Both hands will appear to be unbeatable, however, the cheater will get a bad beat. The purpose of the poker algorithm is to ensure the cheater loses a good portion of his stack. In the eyes of the software it is justice done! Resulting in the often seen bad beats in online-poker.

However, there are a few pitfalls in the cheating online poker algorithm method. What if you were NOT cheating? What if you simply were playing the best game possible? Algorithms can NOT detect whether you are a solid player, only whether you are cheating. Therefore, if you get caught in the trap by an algorithm, that's just the way online works. It is a necessary evil that poker algorithms were designed to catch cheating players, and good players must suffer the repercussions of bad beats. However a solution to prevent this from happening to you is easily available!

Attain the needed knowledge of how cheating online poker algorithms work and how to prevent them from devastating your bankroll. You can avoid a massive bad beat and crushing blow to your poker chip stack by learning the poker algorithms and how they work. Abandon the use of cheating software and instead learn how the poker algorithms work. You will never be able to beat both the computer program and the assortment of poker players on any pokersite without knowing what you are truly up against.

While you can make up your own chip set from purchasing these chips individually you are better off to get a set that comes with a carrying and storage case to keep your chips in good condition and all together.

Sets of Dice Chips

Dice poker chips come in different numbered sets to meet just about any poker or game playing need. Many times these sets include dice and cards as well as the chips. They all come in a convenient carrying case which helps to keep all your game supplies in one neat and convenient package.

Win at Online Poker With Poker Odds Calculators

If you're reading this then you must be an online poker enthusiast. In the next few minutes I'll introduce you to a new generation of poker software called poker odds calculators! Poker odds calculators will enhance your game and help you win more hands, tournaments and increase your income! They greatly improved my poker play, I avoided bad bets, stopped chasing bad hands and cashed out more often. I'm actually not a poker genius, just a mediocre player, so if I did it, you can do it too. If you are not using such a program, it is highly likely someone is surely using it on you! Recent estimates indicate that more than 40% of online poker players have some sort of program aid while playing online Texas Holdem poker, and the percentage just keeps rising! That means that you either have a distinct advantage over your competition if you are using these tools or you are being exploited by more prepared players. Now I'm going to answer a few basic questions about odds calculators.

What exactly is a poker odds calculator?

Poker odds calculator is a special software created with a complex set of algorithms, which compute the chances of winning, based on past computations and past played hands; the odds that this particular combination of cards will come up at a particular point in a game. While this information may seem to be too big and complex to be memorized, there are some very basic odds that can be memorized. Most successful poker players have educated themselves on the basic theories of odds so they can make snap decisions based upon those statistics as quickly as the cards are dealt. This gives them great advantage over amateur players because they can calculate the odd of winning that particular hand. This is the most important information you can have in online poker. This is precisely why amateurs should look to level the chances of winning by using an online poker odds calculator. There is an old saying which fits here perfectly "God created man, Sam Colt made them equal." The same is with poker calculators, "God created poker players, odds calculators made them equal":)

Are they suitable for every poker player?

Yes, they are not designed only for hardcore players. Every poker player has a calculator designed to suit his needs. If you are a beginner player best choice would be a beginner friendly calculator like Texas Calculatem. For intermediate players I would recommend Holdem Indicator and Calculatem Pro, one off the most popular advanced calculators available. For more advanced online poker players who need more functions and statistics best choice would be Holdem Genius, very powerful odds calculator. There are some specialized pieces od poker software, like Tournament Indicator and Sit and Go shark. Tournament indicator is odds calculator designed specially for Texas Holdem tournament play and Sit and Go Shark for Sit and Go tournaments.

Are they expensive?

Odds calculators can only be used when you get an unlock code from the software's administrator. The best part about poker calculators is that you can get them for free! They retail price varies from $70 to $100 but here you will learn how you can get license for FREE and save some money for poker! Is using poker calculators cheating? No, not really. They just bring you up to speed with the poker professionals and mathematical geniuses who have this information in their head and use it to make key probability decisions all the time. Majority of poker sites describe poker calculators as acceptable 3rd party software. So no worries there.

Where can you use them?

Almost 99% of online poker rooms support poker odds calculator. For detail list of poker rooms supported visit the wanted calculator review page and find the supported rooms there!

Why to buy poker odds calculator?

I will not speak about morality and legal consequences of using "cracked" or "patched" version of odds calculator software, just about practical downside. Every poker odds calculator updates itself regularly (approx. every week or two), automatically adding new functionality and tweaks. You can use your instance of software only when it's updated to current version available! So the conclusion is, if you want to use odds calculator of your choice on a regular basis use the registered version!

Enjoy your poker!

Poker Gifts - Ideas For Your Poker Loving Friend Or Spouse

Do you have a hard to buy for person on your gift list who really happens to like poker? Here are a wide variety of poker gifts that are certain to delight. These tend to be unique gifts that are a nice substitute to the typical stuff they might be accustomed to getting like caps, wallets, and clothes. Since I am also a poker buff myself, I can aim you toward a number of fascinating poker gift ideas you may not have looked at. You can get a good poker gift in pretty much any cost range.

Folding Poker Tables: They make a extraordinary gift if you have the money for it. With a feel of playing on a casino table they enhance the fun to your poker games. These include folding legs for storage so they can be setup and taken down in a few minutes. On some models the top of the table folds also which makes it smaller so it will be able to be be stored in a closet. They also have a much smaller cost than the one piece tops because the smaller size lowers the distribution cost a great deal. Folding poker tables are generally to be had for around 160 to 300 dollars with delivery making them a splendid poker gift at a very moderate cost.

Folding Poker Table Tops: This choice is obtainable for much less than a poker table. Poker tops have various distinguished casino features comparable to the tables, except they are placed on top of an existing table. There is such a wide range of prices, depending on options, that you can certainly find one to suit any poker lover.

Poker Chips: You probably are familiar with those skinny plastic poker chips you pick up at dollar stores. If you really aim to make an impression on somebody with an especially exceptional poker gift, think about a genuine poker chip set. These sets come in all price ranges depending on what they contain, but even the low end chips are much better than the store bought category. They have interesting casino markings or labels and are a good deal heavier and more realistic, like authentic casino chips. For less than $60 you can present a set with accessories in a heavy-duty storage case for travel and protection of the chips.

Poker Cards: You are doubtless acquainted with the average cardboard playing cards. In addition to these are plastic cards that are available in sets that resist crimping and marking. For under $25 to $30 you can acquire a set of two decks with case.

Game Supplies: You can easily find a low priced poker gift here. Poker chip cases, dealer buttons and other things you have to have for a Texas Hold'em game are terrific gift ideas. The majority of these items can be had for under $20 - $30.

Hold 'Em Frills: You can also find a wide selection of products that are poker themed and present great poker gifts such as t-shirts, lighters, and poker strategy DVDs. They are normally the least expensive items that you will find.

Most of these things are not sold in local stores, but you can find them readily on the web. It will be worth the effort if you are desiring to give a gift that is outside of the typical and loved by poker buffs everywhere.

Poker Calculator Review - Poker Spy 2 Lacks the Steak and Sizzle

Poker-Spy has been around for longer than most other poker calculators and quietly ushered in the classification of empirical poker calculators. That being the type that offered you not only poker odds and drawing information while extracting the pertinent data from your poker screen, but also keeping track of you and your opponent's profiles.

In fact, with Poker-Spy, profiling becomes the main thrust of this software along with hand history data to use during and after your game. While playing, Poker-Spy devised a readable hand history grid that progresses until all action for the most recent 17 hands are displayed with the winner and amount of the pot, while reminding you of your hole cards and those of any opponents that were revealed during play.

Within this grid, you can click on any of those hands (they are numbered for easy reference) that occurred for more detailed betting, position, and pot information. The cross grid panel illuminates by way of background color extra information too, offering up data showing which players were not in the hand, pre-flopped raised, or simply saw the flop. Now all of these grid sections and squares can be a little confusing at first, but I think Poker-Spy does a nice job here of making this data quite clear and understandable. In cash and ring games, it also classifies your opponent into the classic poker player profile grid first described by Dr. Alan Schoonmaker, in his book the Psychology of Poker - as in Loose-Passive and Tight-Aggressive etc.

While hand play is in progress at your table, Poker-Spy created the patent pending Alert System that with tiny, numbered and colored circles adjacent to the players name within the Poker-Spy tracking grid, you can quickly view what Poker-Spy has deemed "questionable" play from your opponents. These visual aids help you quickly discern plays such as blind plays, out-of-position moves, or re-raises perhaps. The extent that such plays are made numerous times is represented within those circles by a corresponding digit clearly visible.

The data itself is further transformed into a database of hand history analysis that you may find yourself poring over to find out things like, what hand you play that has won you the most money, or lost you're the most money. What position at the table is most or least profitable for you? Your pre-flop and post-flop play is also measured statistically for your own benefit as well. These reports of you and opponents you have played against are managed in the hand summary report, the hand analysis report, and the player report.

In a substantial way, Poker-Spy`s value lays within these reports which have done well by this program in the growing days of online poker. I personally recommended this software nearly two years ago now, but let`s fast forward to Poker-Spy 2.0 which was recently updated with a few new features, albeit hard to find as they were.

I was rather enthused about the update when Poker-Spy contacted me for another review, but when playing with the software, I had to look really closely to actually find the improvements. One of the improvements is a new set of alert indicators that include possible river bluffs made by your opponents. This is a feature that could be useful to new players, although it doesn't offer any clue as to what your opponent has, the make-up of the board and the tendency of your opponent contribute to this marker.

The other new feature in Poker-Spy is an addition to the extensive reports that includes pre-flop play in many different categories including position, raises and re-raises, and hole card strength.

Although Poker-Spy paved the way for some in-depth analysis of a poker player`s weaknesses, other programs have certainly tripled up on what seems to be a slow, but methodical progression to Poker-Spy. Truly I expected far more for a major update in terms of its poker calculator functions and its potential to work with other software simultaneously. In fact, I now fear that Poker-Spy is suffering from over-programming without sufficient poker-player input.

The designers at Poker-Spy have never really been aggressive marketers of the software and I think this inhibits some of the feedback that they might otherwise be getting from a field of affiliates more attuned to the game and the what the players are interested in - in terms of poker calculators. You can even get a sense for this lack of ambition in the presentation of the Poker-Spy website which really in its present day mock-up, could be a grand relic of the waybackmachine.

With all that said, Poker-Spy2 has actually dropped to 2 of 4 aces in the Poker Calculator Report value ranking. Not because Poker-Spy2 isn`t better than the original Poker-Spy, but because it`s features and operating program are now clearly behind several other empirical poker calculator products and self analysis software programs.

Marty Smith has a full review of Poker Spy at PokerCalculatorReport.com. You can find video reviews of all the online poker calculators there so you can see them being used before you decide which one is right for you. He also has a tournament strategy video series that is free just for signing up.

Building your bank roll as a poker player takes a lot of time, effort and discipline. One helpful ingredient is getting a good poker bonus that can be given to you by the online poker room.

A poker bonus can be given to a player in a number of ways; it can either be given as a gift straight away when you down load the online poker room's software. Or it may be gradually released over time when you start playing at the tables and earning points for each hand you play. Some rooms may require you to play between 500 - 1000 hands of play at a limit of 25 cent - 50 cent level, before releasing part of or the entire poker bonus.

Before you choose a poker room, you will need to take into account what size bonus you would like, as well as how many people play at the specific poker room and whether you feel comfortable with the play.

Some rooms have excellent playability, lots of players, but then they have a very low poker bonus offer of $50 -$100. Whereas other poker rooms have very high poker bonus offers of $600 or up to $2000, but do not have that many players and may require you to play 1000s of hands in a shorter time to release the money to your online account.

You need to read as many of the poker room reviews as possible, touching on all these matters before you decide which one is best for you.

Another factor you need to take into account is that most rooms offer the bonus with a 100% deposit requirement before they consider what amount you will get as a poker bonus.

An example is when you see a poker room offer you up to $500 as a poker bonus for a 100% deposit. This means in order for you to get that $500 bonus you will need to deposit $500 of your money into the poker room and then complete their requirements. This may affect how big you would want to start especially if you have limited funds to build your poker bankroll.

If you start smaller and only deposit $100, Depending on the room, they will release you another $100 once you have completed the hands needed. This way you can still start small if that better fits your budget.

With your poker bankroll you will need to make sure that you are playing at a level that will give you enough buy ins. This way you will not risk your whole roll just to try and get the bonus. It doesn't make sense to buy into a poker room with $500 in order to get a 100% bonus of another $500. And then play on a $5 -$10 no limit game to lose your whole bank roll in the first couple of hands.

You would be better to use $50 of the $500 that you bought in with, to play on a lower limit game of 25 cent - 50 cent. This way you are only risking 10% of your poker bank roll, and ensuring you play good tight-aggressive poker, you can grind away and still comfortably get your poker bonus.

The main goal here is to still play poker correctly and Manage Your Poker Bank Roll. As long as you do that, you will receive your poker bonus before you know it and add it your existing bankroll.

How Titan Poker Compares With Other Internet Poker Rooms

The majority of people that are intrigued by the prospect of getting involved in internet poker will be familiar with Titan Poker and the Titan Poker bonus code. The problem that some people encounter is that it's difficult to choose from the many different poker networks and bonus offers on the market.

This difficulty might especially concern beginners, who may not be conversant in the vocabulary of poker. In such cases, some extra guidance is required, which I will provide in this article.

In order to understand the various online poker networks and poker bonus offers, beginners would be well advised to refer to an internet networks bonus website. Here they can find independent reviews about internet networks and also their poker bonus offers, such as the following overview of Titan Poker online network and the Titan Poker bonus.

Titan Poker is part of Playtech Limited, an online gaming provider that supplies a variety of different software options for online casinos and online poker rooms.

The Titan Poker network is the third biggest collection of online poker rooms in the whole world. The company is estimated to have a market value of over half a billion pounds.

Titan Poker is very well designed and thought out. The welcome page does not appear confusing to the eye, which is one of the main reasons why potential new customers will click away from a site before they have even investigated it.

Potential new customers can enjoy a Titan Poker bonus of up to $500 in free chips based around an initial deposit. This is not the biggest free offer out of all online poker websites but it is competitive and conforms to the website's serious reputation.

A Titan Poker Bonus code may be required in order to qualify for the bonus. If this is the case, this code can be obtained from a poker bonus website. It is always advisable to check such a website before joining an online poker network, to be certain that you have all the necessary codes required to qualify for bonus offers.

Customers can easily download a desktop client to play Titan Poker. This desktop client is compatible with most Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac operating systems. The graphics are good, the game engine loads quickly and it's easy to sign in without having to open up an internet browser.

For any really inexperienced poker players there is a very useful tutorial option This explains the basic concepts of poker as well as the different games that can be played. The tutorial also offers a glimpse of what the graphics are like. The website does very well to help new customers along.

There is also a poker tips section on Titan Poker that explains a lot of useful information that will stop a customer betting ignorantly. This is very good because it stops new customers from building up larger than necessary losses during their early days with the website.

Titan Poker constantly displays the number of active players online as well as the number of active tables. This will show new and experienced customers when there is more money and subsequently more value floating around inside the website.

The support page is very thorough and provides e-mail addresses and telephone numbers for customers to contact Titan's support team if they have a problem. This information is widely displayed and is not difficult to find. This should help potential new customers feel comfortable.

User controls are similar to what can be found with any top online poker website. Titan allows customers to have a lot of control of what goes into and comes out of their accounts. Limits can be put in place to stop huge debts from being accumulated as a result of playing poker through the website.

The regular messages and warnings about responsible gambling are provided at the base of the page at all times. There are also links for customers to use if they believe they are developing a gambling problem.

There is also an option for customers to put a personal touch on their accounts with a picture that will be displayed whenever they sit at an online Titan Poker table. This isn't something that is found on all top poker websites, and it can be a fun and useful feature which players appreciate.

If you are interested in joining Titan Poker online, you should check at a poker bonus website first. From here you can obtain the Titan Poker bonus code, as well as free poker tips and strategy guides to help you improve your game.

What is the Theory of Poker?

Do you know the definition of theory? According to the definition found in Dictionary.com, theory is a suggestion, whose standing is still speculative. In other words a theory is like a hypothesis. A hypothesis is an educated guess based on what you already know about the specific subject you are speculating. (It is not something you say just because it pops into your head.) Based on this information, what do you think is the theory of poker? Or better yet, does poker even have a theory?

Before we decide if the game does or does not have a theory, let us gather up all the information we know about poker. If you have ever done some research on poker you probably know that the origin of poker is very shady. (No one really knows were, when or how poker started.) Some people believe poker was created in china, wile other say poker is an original American card game. (Well, you can flush this approach down the toilet.)

Okay, now lets state all the things we do know about poker. Poker is the most popular game around the world and you can play it both online and offline. Over the years, different varieties of poker have been invented. Although there are many different varieties of poker, the same basic rule apply to most of them because the aim for most of the varieties of poker is the same; at the end of the game one player has to have the best possible five-card poker hand on their hand. Each style of poker has its own strategies which can lead to success when you know them.

Now that we know what we know, lets go back to the theory of poker. Since very little is known about poker itself, except for the rules of each poker game, I personally think that there is not a theory to poker, at least not one that everyone can agree to. What to you think? Do you disagree or agree with me?

What ever your answer may be to the theory of poker, one thing that we can all agree on is that poker is a fun game to play. Although at the begging poker may be a bit difficult to understand, once you get the hang of it, playing poker can be a piece of cake.

Now, just for the fun of it let me tell you some of the variations of poker you can choose from. Texas hold'em, five-card draw, seven-card stud, Razz, Omaha high, Chinese poker, crazy pineapple, deuce-to-seven, double-flop Texas hold'em, Omaha hold'em, Texas hold'em, five card stud, pineapple hold'em high poker, pineapple hold'em high-low split, joker poker, let it ride and let it ride bonus, Vegas double action, and Caribbean stud poker. Don't you dare think these are all the variations available in poker!

Forget about the theory of poker if it does not make sense to you or if thinking about is giving you a headache. Just worry about what variety of poker you want to play and of having fun wile playing it. Adios, and have fun!

How to Get Started in Online Poker

Have you heard than poker is a lot of fun? Indeed poker has a perfect combination of a social friendly circle or club versus battling wits and adrenalin of winning. When getting started with poker some people rush out to deposit a considerable sum at a biggest online site they can find. They usually quickly lose their deposit, sour on the game and leave. There is a better way and it is more fun. Instead I recommend starting at any quality free online poker sites. There are many out there to choose from.

Learn Poker Rules

While poker rules are simple, the game is fairly fast paced. Usually you have less than 30 sec to make a move. Thus it is critical to be able to quickly grasp at least what cards you have, how they combine with community cards and all different ways you can win. Do you want to learn all that when you have your real, hard earned dollars on the table? Perhaps you do. As for me - that would make me nervous and where is fun in that? Free multiplayer poker sites, where you play against other people online, are perfect for learning these basic poker rules. You will learn them with no pressure and no hit to your wallet.

Do Not Be a Patsy

There are reasons why many sites encourage you to make a cash deposit as soon as possible. The most important one is to bring new money into the game. Poker is a zero sum game. That is what someone won someone else must have lost. New inexperienced players are called "fish" or "patsy" in poker parlance. Good players purposely seek them out. Poker is a game of skill after all. The better you skills are the better and more consistent your payday is. You are certainly not a patsy. Since you are reading this article you are already ahead of 90% of poker newbies. You have mastered poker basics on safe play money poker sites for free. So when you are ready to play for real cash you enter the game with some confidence. You are not intimidated or confused by a strict dealer and quick pace at casino tables.

Learn What Not to Do

Some poker experts believe it is detrimental for your poker skills to train on free, that is play money, poker sites. They explain that when there is no real money on the line players modify their behavior. In other words players have no fear of losing their money and become maniacs raising every hand just to see what happens. I agree with that observation. Play money sites often feature reckless, hyper aggressive even maniacal players who never stop for an instant to think what they are doing. Well, they are easy to beat if you have a minimal discipline and not engage in the same over the top playing style. Poker has what is called a perfect strategy - strategy which guarantees to win the most over the long term regardless of what cards you are dealt. The closer your play to perfect strategy the bigger your edge becomes. Think of it this way - if you cannot beat a free poker game, why do you think you would prosper in cash game where players, on average, are much more competent? Make sense? This way of thinking goes further. When you can consistently beat a free poker game, it is a solid indication that you are ready to move up.

Observe and Adapt

There are at least three fundamental skills you must learn before you go on a roll in Las Vegas. Obviously learn the cards. That is understand how cards combine into winning combinations in Texas Holdem poker. How different combinations rank against each other. Most of the players you will encounter do know that. But those hours you spent online will pay off there. Since you played for free you could afford playing more hands. More practice made you faster and more comfortable running card combinations in your mind. The other two skills are being observant and adapting to current playing style. What is there to observe online you might ask? Even in online poker you can observe a lot. Watch how much time your opponents take to respond. Make mental notes how they respond to different situations. Discern patterns in their play. It sounds like a lot of work. That is because it is but so is walking. You do not consider walking hard because you learned it once and it became you nature through constant practice. It works the same with poker skills. Finally, adapting means adjusting your game to take maximum advantage of specific individuals seated at your specific table now. You cannot play mechanically applying "best practice" rules like raise with your good cards and fold your junk cards. I want you to do better than that. Here your sharp observation starts bearing fruit. You will notice that a raise from maniac means a lot less that a raise from a tight, cautious player. Betting out into four players after a raise on previous round says a lot more that an automatic bet on the flop. You have to adjust your play by loosening up and tightening down as opportunities come and go. There is one thing I learned well - playing poker is fun and playing is the important thing. But playing and winning is even more fun. Spend a little time preparing then you can enter on your own terms and be a dangerous opponent not a fish.

Where to Go Online

This is a brief section because the answer is easy. Find a site with Fixed Limit and No Limit poker which loads fast and its graphics are functional but sparse. I find that many gambling themed sites are heavy on flashy in-your-face graphics which confuse me and turn me off. You want to avoid those and seek out poker rooms where graphics are simple, functional and basically "get-out-of-the-way" for you to focus on poker. You have plenty of choices from feature-rich, downloadable software by large commercial online cardrooms with an excellent support for Windows and Mac. On the other end of spectrum is free no download poker software playable in a web browser. Such no download clients still offers full-featured Texas Holdem poker yet playable even on iPad or smartphone.

Where to Learn Poker Strategy

The pointers I gave in this article are only bare basics that get you started on the right foot in poker. However there is plenty more if you wish to improve your game. Depending on your personal way to learn and how you digest information you can go one of the two ways. Either spend a lot of time on poker forums interacting with fellow new players and learning via social group. It can be fun and pretty motivating but be prepared to spend some time. Another way is buying a book and really working through it. For the best value I recommend Small Stakes Hold 'em: Winning Big With Expert Play by Ed Miller and David Sklansky. The book is solid, methodical yet readable and covers all aspects of winning in poker.

Enough Talk - Go On and Play Some Poker

Now it is time to put everything into an actionable plan. Here is how I recommend you to proceed. Start out by playing poker for free online. After you have learned the rules buy a book. Read it once. Play more poker while staying observant. Think of the hands you played after the game is over. You will automatically return to the book. Reading it second time will not be boring at all because you get deeper meaning based on your own experience at the tables. After you are beating a free game online you can pay a visit to your local casino and play some Limit Texas Holdem. Starting out with No Limit is a sure way to lose your bankroll quickly. Continue on playing micro stakes online as well as low stakes in a casino. Inevitably there will be moments when you have lost control and made stupid mistakes. It is never wrong to go back to the previous level to rebuild confidence. Even poker pros do that often. Keep building you bankroll and saving for a trip to Vegas. I will see you there.

How to Play Omaha Poker

Omaha Hold'Em poker, typically called Omaha poker amongst players, is a member of the community card poker family. It is a variation of the classic poker style that incorporates the unique element of shared, or community, cards into its game structure. In this way, Omaha closely follows the poker rules of Texas Hold'Em poker, a popular poker variation that also uses community cards.

The objective of Omaha poker is to make a better 5-card hand than any other player at the table. The game uses one standard deck of 52-cards and can comfortably seat a number of players from two to ten.

At the start of each game of Omaha poker, the player to the left of the dealer commences with the small blind. The second player then pays the big blind. Blinds are simply mandatory bets that begin the Omaha poker pot. The responsibility of paying the blinds shifts clockwise around the poker table so that all players will contribute to the poker game.

After the blinds have been paid, each player is deal four cards face down by the dealer. These cards are known as a player's pocket (or hole) cards, and must be kept hidden from other competitors. Each player must use exactly two of these cards to compose their final 5-card poker hand. Players can choose whichever two of their four pocket cards to use, combining them with three of the five community cards to make their hand.

Following the first deal is the first round of betting. After betting, the first round of community cards will be dealt face up to the table by the dealer. The first round is called the Flop and exposes three cards. Players then bet again, starting with the player on the dealer's left. Any player who does not want to call, or agree to pay, the bet, forfeits his cards and exits the game. All remaining players then view the Turn, the fourth community card. After betting, the last community card is revealed in the River. The final bets are placed, and remaining players then reveal their 5-card hands.

Whichever player has the highest hand at the table wins the pot. The Omaha poker hand rankings are as follows: Royal Flush, Straight Flush, Four of a Kind, Full House, Flush, Straight, Three of a Kind, Two Pair, Pair and High Card.

Once players have mastered the basic rules, learning how to play Omaha poker is best done through practice. People can play poker Omaha-style in a number of different formats. With an internet connection, players can play free poker or online poker for real money wagers in online casinos. Playing free online poker is a great way for new players to hone their skills, knowing that they can make mistakes without losing money bet. A free poker game even benefits advanced players who can work on improving their own strategies and testing out professional poker tips with the goal of developing the perfect Omaha technique.

A Primer on Getting Started With Online Poker

With the dawn of the 21st century, the Internet and World Wide Web has become a central hub for a wide variety of activities. The World Wide Web has proven to be a thriving place for commerce of all types. Retailers and service providers of every kind have taken to calling the Internet home.

Entertainment websites of all types have also made a significant splash in cyberspace. Included within the panorama of recreational Internet venues are online poker websites. Indeed, as time moves forward, online gambling and online poker playing are thriving ventures.

Perhaps you are one of literally hundreds of thousands of men and women the world over who have an interest in online poker. In that regard, you may be seeking and searching for a perfect website at which you can engage in your favored pastime of playing cards.

As you undertake your hunt for the perfect site at which to play poker online, there are a number of pointers, recommendations and suggestions that you should keep well in mind.

Finding a Reputable and Established Online Poker Venue:

Naturally, when it comes to online gaming generally, and online poker specifically, you want to connect up with a site that is reputable and well-established. Unfortunately, as with so many different types of "things" on the Internet, there are very reputable sites that cater to online poker players and there are sites that aren't necessarily on the up-and-up. Therefore, as you seek out an ideal site to draw your cards, you will want to be 100% certain that you are dealing with an above board, completely reputable purveyor of Internet based poker gaming.

As a newcomer to the world of Internet based poker playing, you will want to avoid linking up with some of the more obscure, out of the way websites. While these venues may indeed make some pretty grandiose promises to you, in the end you will be far better served by signing on to a well established online poker website that has a demonstrably established track record.

In seeking a poker website that has a recognized track record, take the time to read and consider independent reviews of different sites. Through these reviews, you can determine whether a particular site actually will meet your gaming needs. More importantly, you will be able to discern a site's reputation in the poker playing cyber world.

Getting Referrals, References and Recommendations:

If you are heading into online poker playing for the first time, you likely know other men and women who enjoy this activity. As you seek out the perfect website to enjoy poker playing, get referrals, references and recommendations from these fellow poker acquaintances.

Even in this age of high-tech communication, nothing -- nothing -- beats word of mouth and past experience when it comes to referrals, references and recommendations. You can learn a great deal about a particular online poker website through the experiences of other people who have played at a specific venue. You will be able to learn which site to avoid and which web locations are worth your time.

The Importance of a Strong, Reliable and Experienced Player Base:

Obviously, you can't play poker alone.

In looking for an online poker website that will meet your needs as a player, you will want to consider three factors when it comes to the matter of other participants at a given venue:

- Strong player base with sufficient participants enrolled

- Reliable player base with participants who play regularly

- Experienced player base with participants that are knowledgeable about poker

Finding Games You Enjoy:

As you narrow down the list of potential online poker websites, don't simply settle. Don't enroll, enlist and engage a website that doesn't have exactly the types of games you enjoy playing. In this day and age (although the saying is trite and overused), when it comes to poker on the Internet, there truly is something for everyone.

In addition to finding a site that hosts games you enjoy, make certain that the site has games that you have experience in playing. If you are interested in trying out some different games of poker, make certain that the site you are considering has a novice or instructional setting that will allow you the chance to learn more about a particular game through hands-on playing with similarly situated individuals.

Remember Your Limits!

As in the brick and mortar world, when it comes to online gaming and poker playing, it is vital that you remember your limits. Before you ever log onto an Internet poker site, establish a definite set of loss guidelines that you will follow while playing. Set your limits in advance of enrolling with an Internet poker website and in advance of beginning to play.

By setting your loss limits in advance of being dealt a hand, you will be a responsible player and will be able to enjoy your Internet poker experience all the more.

By following these pointers, recommendations and suggestions, you will be well on your way to finding an absolutely ideal Internet poker website, a venue that will meet all of your needs and satisfy your poker playing desires. In other words, you will be well on your way to hours of entertainment and excitement at an Internet poker site that is perfect for you.

Poker Strategy - A Simple Six Step Guide to Big Profits

There is no one set strategy that suits everyone in poker. We're all different, and if everyone could win by playing the same way, then poker would not be such a challenge, or as much fun!

Devising an Individual Poker Strategy for YOU

You need to work out a strategy in poker that is customised to your personality and this involves many things. Are you a tight player or a lose player? What game do you want to focus on - Texas hold'em, Omagh hold'em or another game? What is your bankroll? Do you want to play poker seriously for a living, or as a fun pastime? For big winnings at online poker, you will find below a simple six-point guide to forming your own individual poker strategy.

Poker Strategy #1 - Adopt the Correct Mindset

If you want to be successful in poker, then you must really have the desire to succeed. In fact, this is true not just in poker, but also in ALL areas of life. If you don't have the desire to succeed from the outset, then you are probably not going to put in the required effort to earn those big winnings.

Poker Strategy #2 - Learn the Basics for Profit

How many players play poker online without knowing the basics of the game? The answer is the majority; don't be eager to play until you know the basics. You need to learn all you can before you play including: Bluffing, pot odds, slow playing, rules and variations of the game and the game you wish to focus on. Sure, you can't learn everything from books - you need experience as well, but you don't want to gain experience without knowing the basics first, it will be more expensive!

Poker Strategy #3 - Have a Money Management Plan

How much money do you have to play poker with and what level of stakes should you play at? You need to decide this, and as rule of thumb, set a bankroll aside that will give you staying power of at least 200 - 300 bets. Don't make the mistake of playing in high stakes games unless you have the experience and the money.

Poker Strategy #4 - Expand Your Knowledge of the Game

You will never know everything about the game; there is always something new to learn. Try to keep learning all the time, and have an open mind to new poker ideas and strategies. Do some reading at least once a month to improve your strategy.

Poker Strategy #5 - Focus on other Players

Poker is a game of psychology and you need to beat other players mentally. Keep in mind, that as we all know, the best hand does not always win at poker. Pay as much attention to the way your opponents play as your own play.

Poker Strategy #6 - Analysis Yourself

Continually, after each game, reflect on your own play. Don't just analyse why you won, but why you lost as well. Why did your bluff not work? Why is your slow playing strategy losing you money? Keep thinking about what went wrong, what went right and how you can improve your overall play.

A Poker Strategy for Success

Not everyone can become a great poker player; life is simply not like that. However, we believe ANYONE can become a good poker player, i.e. win more money than they lose, but this is dependent on having an individual strategy for profit that reflects you.

Every Poker Player Has to Start at the Beginning

Every poker player should know that you have to start at the beginning.

So, you are a beginner at playing poker; well, we all have to start some place. Even the professional poker player had to be a beginner at one time. Like the rest of us, you just have to start playing.

Maybe you have watched the World Series of Poker (WSOP) on TV, maybe you've read some of the poker books, maybe you've been to a casino and stood at the rail of a poker room or maybe you have played a little free Internet poker.

But the best way to learn how to play poker is in a live ring game for real money!

Now, you are about to jump feet first into the poker waters. You are at the casino poker room and they have just seated you at a table. You mumble, "Hi," to the dealer and other players. Your hands are clammy, there's sweat on you upper lip and you feel light headed. (Yeah, we've all been there.)

You are somewhat overwhelmed and a bit shy about sitting down at the poker table. You don't know what to expect and are having self-doubts. "Are the other players going to run all over me?," you think to yourself, allowing your own hype to intimidate you.

Oh no, here comes the first hand. You look at your hole cards, studying them to make sure you know what you have. The Ace and Jack of Hearts. Now if only you could remember what all the poker books say about good starting hands. Am I supposed to raise? You just call.

The flop comes King of Spades, Ten of Hearts, and Four of Hearts. Wow, four to a straight and four to a flush. You are trying to look nonchalant but your heart beats faster. You call the bet.

The turn card is the Jack of Spades. "Okay, not too bad; at least I have a pair," you say to the little poker player inside of you.

The dealer discards, and what seems like slow motion, lays down the river card. The nine of Hearts! You have the nut high flush.

"Check raise, check raise, check raise," your mind is screaming.

"No, no. I can't do that. I'm just a beginner. What do I know?," says the scaredy- cat. So, you just place the required bet.

The only player left in the hand raises. What could he have? You stare at the cards on the board; you check the cards you hold. All the players are looking at you, waiting to see what you will do.

From somewhere you hear your voice squeak, "Re-raise."

Your opponent calls the re-raise and shows a King-high straight. You turn your cards over and the dealer declares, "Winner, Ace-high flush", pushing the pot your way.

As you stack up the chips, you hear the losing player grumble, "Beginner's luck."

Gee, this poker playing stuff is easy. Shuffle up and deal!

I started playing poker when poker wasn't cool. My family always played card games so poker came naturally. I am not a pro by any means; I'm an average person just like you who likes to play all types of poker; although Texas Hold'em is my favorite. My only "claim to fame" is that I have played for many years and in all kinds of venues. My philosophy is: Poker Knowledge = Poker Skills = Poker Wins. I'll leave you with this thought, "There are no perfect poker players; only those of us humbled souls who strive to be".

Making Money Through Internet Online Poker

Despite the many websites designed to grab your attention with moneymaking schemes, there are those who seem solid enough. Websites who provide the basic "buy and sell" principle have flourished. Look at Ebay. Another crazy website that has made lots of money is the free, community reliant Wikipedia.

The one true thing that makes money on the World Wide Web is Internet online poker. It is our love affair with gambling that continues to rake in the money for us (some of the time) and the online casino house (most of the time).

What is Internet online poker? Well, it's basically poker without having to travel all the way to Vegas. There are no walls, no bouncers and no visible distractions in this world. Internet online poker is poker played right in your homes, with real money.

You see, playing poker online is not a new concept. It is just another vehicle for the sport of poker to attract new players into the game. That's the appeal of playing poker with your computer to the younger generation: easy access to the game and they can learn the game by themselves through free tutorials for online poker sites.

Since online poker is like the real-life poker, the old patrons of casino houses can play alongside the computer techies. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Playing Texas Hold Em on Internet poker rooms is as hip and popular today as it was years ago.

Now the next question is how will Internet online poker make me enough money? The answer is simple, by playing various poker games online. Don't worry. This is not a scam. You can really double your earnings by playing Internet online poker rather than heading off to the "brick and mortar casino" houses.

Here's the trick. Internet online poker is played the same way as any regular poker except now you are allowed to play multiple tables. The key to increase your winning is by betting on a low limit. While playing poker in a casino can only allow you to play in one table, playing online poker takes away the physical barrier and gives you the option to view three to ten games simultaneous in one screen.

There are no secrets to it. Just play smart and you will be sure to double your winnings by the time the online poker tournament is over. That is, unless lady Luck decides to pass you by.

Another advantage of playing Internet online poker is the increase in the number of hands you can play. The usual casino house had a dealer and could only play 30 hands per hour. When you remove the human weakness from the equation and add in technology, there is a dramatic increase in the number of hands played. An Internet online poker game can deal 60 to 80 hands per hour!

This is basically the gambler's dream come true. Internet online poker is user-friendly, it's also a professional's recruitment arena. How did that happen? Well, every year online poker rooms hold their annual tournaments called satellites. And instead of just winning money, the winners can get an entry to real-life poker tournaments and play in the World Series of Poker Tournament.

So far there have been two recorded winners of the World Series of Poker Tournament who gained entry by playing Internet online poker. Chris Moneymaker (2003) won the main event and caused a sensation within the poker world. Then another Internet online poker player, Greg "Fossilman" Raymer, followed Chris' footsteps when he won the next year's World Series of Poker.

It's great that by playing poker online, you can earn money and have a chance at making it to the real-life poker tournaments. But all of this is not without a sacrifice. You will be asked to make an investment, especially for the Internet online poker tournaments where an entry fee and built-in fee is required. You can also get hooked on so much Internet online poker that real things in your life are beings to suffer like relationships and career.

Remember, playing poker online is fun but don't let it run your life.

Fold Your Way to Winning Online Poker

It turns out that the #1 cause of losing in poker is simply not folding. Therefore; the first, most basic, skill in poker is folding. If you said, "no duh, yea I know that" then go let's see if you do. The purpose of this article is to begin to teach you how to be nothing more than a winning poker player. What's a "winning poker player"? It's a player who can make a profit consistently.

Any idiot can win at poker (for a short while), but that's not the same as being a "winning poker player". At the end of the week the "winning poker player" has made money. At the end of the month they have made money. The difference is that a "winning poker player" doesn't crash and burn. This article teaches the key skill of folding.

Folding is the most overlooked skill by the majority of players. They can't fold. They won't fold. They find reasons to play when they should be finding reasons to fold. They think and then re-think, they try to read minds. They play pure position plays and think they can steal pots after the flop with any two cards. They think folding will make them look weak in the eyes of their opponents. It deflates their ego. They think they are poker geniuses. They are actually action junkies. These guys are going to be your new best friends, because they are going to make your mortgage payments for you.

The main reason people don't fold is because they want to play. They see each poker "session" as a thing that has a start and a finish. If they are going to play for only one hour then they want to play some hands during that hour. YOU, on the other hand, are going to understand that your poker career is One Big Never Ending Poker Session. If you sit down to play for an hour and you don't have any situations, cards and scenarios where you should play, then you won't play. You will fold for an hour, turn off the computer and know you did your job!! If you want to play a game for fun, play Monopoly. If you want to play winning poker then it's time to get a pen.

Get a pen and a pad of paper. On the top write "I ALWAYS FOLD..." then write the following. You have to write this out. Reading it is pointless. If you really want to burn it into your brain then you can write the list twice. As you write each hand THINK about it.

If you decide you aren't going to ALWAYS fold some particular hand then you better have a fantastic reason why, and you better be able to create a strategy for playing that hand in about 15 different scenarios. Otherwise, just convince yourself that you will always fold it for the next couple months - while you're becoming a winning player. Then, if you want, you can add it back into your starting hands with purpose and with a plan of action for the hand.

I always fold T8.

I always fold J8.

Now keep writing "I always fold" for the rest of this list. It's not every hand in poker, but it's enough for what we're doing right now. 's' means Suited, 'x' means "any numeric card". So KQs means "King Queen Suited" and Ax means "Ace plus any numeric card".

Write "I always fold" for each of the following combination:

Q9, A9, 74s, J7s, 85s 96s, K9, 54, 65, 76, 87, 32s, 42s, 43s, 53s, Q8s, T7s, Kxs, 64s, 98, t9, j9, 75s, j8s, k9s, 54s, QT, KT, 86s, AT, 65S, Axs, 97s 76s, JT, T8s, Q9s, 87, KTs, J9s, 98s, QTs, T9s, ATs, JTs

That's your list of unplayable cards. UNPLAYABLE, any position, any situation, the only time you will be playing these cards is if you post the big blind and check into a hand with them. Otherwise you're folding. You are folding on the small blind, you are folding on the button, you are folding with multiple limpers, raised pots, unraised pots, etc.

Before we continue though, I must state something that SHOULD be glaringly obvious to you, but might not be. When you check into a flop from the big blind with one of your "I fold" hands, it's extremely important that you do not get drawn into playing your cards unless you really strike it lucky on the flop. Let's say that you hold 83 as the big blind and it comes round to you unraised, so you check and get to see the flop for no extra cash, "free" if you like. The flop comes 864. You have top pair! You are DONE with this hand. Fold it. Don't bet it. Don't call with it. Just let it go.

In these instances your hand is no good. You are probably beaten already. If you aren't beaten already, it's highly likely you will be before the hand is finished. Very occasionally you will flop a monster - with your 83 big blind you could see a flop of 883, K33, or even 888 as some examples. It does happen - but these will be in the minority, and remembering this will keep you out of a whole lot of trouble. Just because you got to see the flop for free doesn't mean it won't cost you dearly if you play your mediocre flopped hand above its real value. We will cover this more in detail when we talk about playing the blinds.

Did you find that you said, "No way, I'm not folding this in 'whatever' situation"? How about TJ or ATs? There is an excellent chance that the list of hands you are always going to fold preflop is more than you can accept. That's OK! Just stop reading. This system of making consistent profits playing poker can be... in a word... boring. The fact that it works consistently is really secondary. Action junkies and people who play poker to prove how "smart" they are will have serious issues with the remainder of this article.

Finding more and more hands to play, and more reasons to play them make good players bad, bad players worse, and sucky players out of everyone. Please, for the love of all that is pure and holy understand this one thing. All the books you read and all the advice you got from people who read those books are based on the same antiquated concept of playing ONE table LIVE. That means that you are physically sitting at a table and only one table since there's only one of you. The cards are being shuffled; you're seeing maybe 35 hands per hour - if not less. You are playing the maximum stakes for your bankroll, because that's what you should do if you are single table, live playing.

The winning system in this article was created for a modern, multi-table, online style of play. Instead of playing one table at $2/$4, you're playing 4 tables of $.5/$1. Instead of seeing 35 hands per hour or less, you're seeing about 200 hands per hour. Instead of playing "whatever table is available" you are selecting only the best tables for playing your game, tables with huge pots and tons of passive preflop callers. Do you see what I'm saying?

The hands that you think you want to play preflop might be right for some other situation. But we're talking about a game where you can sit and play 4-5 tables at a time for hours on end and make money. This is a game that's designed for the 21st century online poker reality. Yes, it is still possible to play poker online for profits from the U.S.!

Now, for whatever hands you have reservations about... Like ATs... write 25 times. "I always fold" and the hand. Each hand 25 times. Each time reminding yourself that you are creating a new game, a disciplined game, a money making game that will bring you hundreds of thousands of dollars over your poker career, a game that's going to make you into a poker monster.

Done? If you didn't do this exercise and you think you're ready to go to the next section, then do me a favor. Go to the bathroom, remove the roll of toilet paper, and place a print-out of this article on the spool. You might as well put it to use, because you're not using it to learn how to play winning online poker. Do the damn exercise before you move on, please. It'll only take an hour, unless you're writing with your feet.

If you learn how to fold and you stop falling in love with every two cards you see, then you will be ahead of most online poker players. It's good to be an optimist! It's good to see potential in the future. However, when you do that with too many starting hands in poker then you end up slowly losing whatever money you actually won with your good hands. See, becoming a consistent winning poker player isn't just about winning with good hands - any idiot can win with a good hand. Becoming a consistent winning online poker player is also about HOLDING ONTO your MONEY! You cannot hold onto your money when you play too many starting hands in poker.

I'm not saying that you cannot win hands with the cards that are in the "I always fold" list. You can! However, I'm trying to help you create a laser-focused game that will consistently make a profit with lower risk of leaking away you wins. You don't have to play so few hands. But if you aren't going to try this system then why read the article at all? Poker is fun! All types of poker. This is a very tight style. Try it! See what happens.

If you fold all these hands, then what hands can you play? All pocket pairs, AK, AQ, AJ, KQ, KJ, and QJ. THAT'S IT! 19 preflop hands! How can you win by playing only these 19 hands preflop? If you play them correctly then it's pretty much impossible to lose!!

Poker Cheats in Online Poker - What You Need To Know

Did you know that people are cheating in online poker and that likely is the real reason behind you getting bad beats? This article reveals the inside information on how poker sites attempt to stop poker cheats and what it does to the true game of poker.

Poker is a competitive game and it should have a certain amount of integrity and openness without having players resorting to cheating. However, this is exactly what is happening online as players are using advanced software such as HUDs, poker tracking and table rating software to know HOW you have played and what your style is. In addition to using those types of software, online players are also resorting to colluding with their friends, sharing hand histories, and poker hands through instant messenger and other mediums.

So what are the poker sites like Full Tilt, PokerStars, and Party Poker (among others) doing to stop this subversive behavior by unscrupulous players?

Two Things:

1. All major poker sites have banned the use of certain poker tracking software

They accomplish this simply by using special code to DETECT what apps you are running while you play on their site. Using permissions in your computer's registry, if they detect that you are using a banned software program, they will notify you by email, warn you and if you continue they will close your account.

However, is that enough? What about the software they can not detect or are not aware of yet? Furthermore, what about cheaters who collude and use IM to communicate their hands while sitting at the same table? How do they further prevent this?

That brings us to number 2 of how the poker sites are stopping this illegal behavior.

2. The poker sites use special algorithms that will circumvent player cheating and colluding. These poker algorithms are used in conjunction with the RNG to make deterministic decisions on poker hands as you play. In some cases, they are the direct result of bad beats! How is that possible? Simple, the same poker algorithms that are designed to prevent collusion, detect possible cheating and subvert illegal playing are the very same algorithms that inadvertently cause bad beats. Some may recognize these poker algorithms and be able to take advantage of them to win more often.

Obviously, a poker site is not able to personally monitor every single player, table or hand, and therefore they have designed and implemented short algorithms to detect what they believe is behavior of a cheater. Those algorithms, if they were to detect you as a cheater, would then activate and cause you to lose.

EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT CHEATING!

Sounds unfair, however, the poker sites have to protect the integrity of their game and although guilty until proven innocent is their mantra, you certainly need to become aware of how the poker algorithms work, how you can detect them and then use them to your advantage.

What can You do about this?

Become better informed of how poker algorithms work, how they alter the true play in online poker and how you can use this knowledge to avoid bad beats, suckouts and further discover ways to win more often.

Learning to Play Poker

Texas Hold'em has quickly become a staple on TV, in casinos, and in living rooms around the country.

You must know how to play, and how to play well. Whether you want to beat your friends in a friendly home game, or make some money playing online or at a brick and mortar casino, or compete in a tournament, the following tips will show you how you can begin a journey which can be fun and rewarding.

You can begin by...

PLAYING FOR FREE

Admittedly, playing poker free without anything at stake is usually boring and unrewarding.

However, the majority of online poker sites still offer the option to play poker using free money. Anyone who opens an account receives a small sum of play money he or she can use at the play money tables. There they can play in the same manner that the real money tables use.

Now clearly the level of competition and the quality of the strategies are not those you will usually find at a real money table. That is not to say that the free tables are not without purpose. Since the site will keep records of the amount of free money you win, there will be a steady increase in the level of play as you start entering into tables where the stakes are higher. For instance, if you were to start out with 1,000 dollars and slowly work your way up to a sum of 20,000 dollars, allowing you to enter into tournaments where the buy-in is 3,000 and up, then you would be playing against higher caliber opponents. As a result online poker for free does have its own level of competition and depth.

When you have mastered the play money tables, you can then begin playing at the real money tables. Take the time to play for free and think of the decisive advantages it presents:

Gain a knowledge of the best starting hands in Texas Hold em.
You learned to harness the power of position at the poker table.
You have grown in your understanding of betting and the various betting strategies
Grasped the ability to speak poker slang without looking like an idiot at the tables.
You understand there is a proper code of conduct known as poker etiquette.

So what are you waiting on? Do a search on online poker reviews and find the poker-client that best suits your needs. While you begin learning to play poker for free, you should...

BUY THE BEST POKER BOOKS

A large number of poker players find their introduction to the game of Texas Holdem through some of the best poker books.

With Texas Hold'em experiencing such a rapid growth in the past several years, there are more poker books than ever before, however you want in your possession the best poker books. Read poker book reviews and find the top poker books especially for beginning poker players. However, take the time to search the Internet for information on how to play poker and the different Texas Hold em starting hands before starting out.

Good poker books can help you improve techniques to your game that you may have not known or have ignored. You also might find that during a bad poker run, re-reading your favorite poker book can help you return to the essentials and point out some probable weaknesses in your game.

Do yourself a favor and read nothing but the best poker books that will help you to learn how to play poker. Now there is one other tip you should utilize if you want to learn how to play...

FIND A POKER COACH

If you are serious about learning to play poker and wanting to win money, you should consider a poker coach. You are aware every professional athlete has a "go to person."

Hank Haney tutors the prolific Tiger Woods to keep him in check and perfect his swing. Heck, even Michael Jordan himself had a mentor. Every paid athlete regardless of the sport has a tutor or a trainer to maintain his or her discipline... Always helping with strategy and perfecting the game.

Poker is a people game and coaching is a people thing. A poker coach can see what you are doing wrong and immediately correct you. That is hard and perhaps impossible to do on your own.

If you're serious about playing poker then you should take playing poker serious enough to find a good poker coach. Having someone to critique your play may save your bankroll down the road.

Learning to play poker takes a minute to learn and a life-time to master. With the aforementioned tips it will make learning to play easier. Good luck at the tables.
